We’ve all heard the expression, “Time heals all wounds,” and for many injuries it’s true. But a lot of mental wounds are stored in the subconscious and for the subconscious there’s no such thing as “time.” It’s all happening “right now.” Whether it be a mental injury from childhood or last week… your subconscious can’t tell the difference.
In these cases, since there’s no such thing as “time,” time doesn’t heal all wounds. But that doesn’t mean that all hope is lost.
The subconscious is a powerful force in our lives and is often a driving factor in our decisions, emotions and behaviors.
But it’s also very stupid… it can’t even tell time!
The subconscious also has difficulty discerning imagined events from real events and we can use these “flaws” to train the subconscious to do our bidding. We can “re-program” our subconscious and use it’s flexibility and malleable nature to heal our mental wounds and change negative thought patterns.
We’re deep into January. The time when many of our best intentions and resolutions are tested. Our subconscious can work for or against us during these times of stress and challenge. It can remind us of times we’ve failed or times we’ve succeeded. We can make this powerful, stupid friend heal injuries from the past and look toward the future with hope.
